چکیده

the article presents explanation and analysis of plotinus’ abstraction theology. in this theology he tries to get negative knowledge of the god. the meaning of the negation is neither of pure negation or privation but it is based on abstraction which purifies and abstracts one concept from else to attain the exact and true meaning of it. accordingly, this method of theology is the same as the rational abstraction which deletes the additional qualities of the one in order to arrive rationally to the pure unity of the one. in this manner, as plotinus’ viewpoint , we say what the one is not, but we do not say what it is. rationally, it may be treated two subjects for the abstraction theology: the first, the critical negation of all positive affirmations which used by man to the god. the second, the critical negation of our negations that is unlimited. in this theology, we have no knowledge or thought of the one, but we know about it from what comes after it. then, we do not speak of the one, but we speak about it.

Aristotelianism and the Soul in the Arabic Plotinus

It is common for historians of medieval thought to note that the influence of Aristotle on Islamic philosophy was tinged with Neoplatonism, thanks to a text known as the "Theology of Aristotle." It is now known that the "Theology" is in fact not a work of Aristotle's but rather a paraphrase of parts of Plotinus's Enneads. Certainly, the misattribution of this work to Aristotle facilitated the s...

The Theology of Hope

T o LOOK SACK on our theological past is to see how much christian theologians and philosophers have neglected the exploration of hope. Charles Peguy once suggested that while her two 'sisters', love and faith, were the concern both of medieval and of reformation thought, hope has remained the neglected little sister out in the cold. What has in fact been written on hope in this century has oft...

The Theology of Theological Education

What is it that makes something theological education? The obvious answer for many is that it is the content. That is, it is education that is specifically about theology, about God (or, for some, about the experience of God). It is also possible to suggest that the purpose is definitive of what makes something theological education. After all, is it enough to say that knowledge is sufficient t...
